Snoring
Loud snoring without obstruction of the upper airway. Patient may not be aware of their snoring. Their bed partners are usually the one complaining.
A common cause of loud snoring is mouth breathing secondary to nasal blockage during sleep.
A Nasoendoscopy is useful in determine the underlying cause of snoring such as deviated nasal septum and inferior turbinate hypertrophy. Septoplasty and turbinate reduction surgery are useful in clearing the nasal blockage.
Snoring could be a symptoms of sleep apnea. A comprehensive of the upper airway and sleep study is needed for diagnosis.
